THREE POEMS BY FAIRLEY LLOYD
Never Told You
I have never told you
how much I love you
I love your dark hair
its shiny, black color
so slick to the touch
its smell of Versace
I love your little cheeks
so squishy like a baby’s
the way it jumps when
I pinch them delicately
I love your brown eyes
always wide, always soft,
the mindful look you have
when someone is talking
I love your long nose,
its angular, fit tone
how strong it stands
you wear it proud
I love your thick lips
the expressions it makes
its sound of gentle words
escaping when we kiss
I hope you now know
how much I love you
Stuck in Wonderland
A girl,
stuck in Wonderland
a mysterious place to be
Escape
from reality
where things are not as they seem
Bunny,
white and tall with waistcoat
befriends her down the rabbit hole
Drink tea,
nonsense talk all day
friendships aplenty and full
Here,
down in Wonderland
they all sing of songs
All safe,
nothing terrible
The worst of the worsts are gone
A girl,
stuck in Wonderland
a wondrous place to be
Until,
she wakes up to see
her dream is not reality
over
i am
overwhelmed
by so many people
by so few people
i am
overwhelmed
by feeling high
feeling low
not knowing
what to feel
not knowing
what i feel
i am
overwhelmed
by all the sounds
every thought
breathing
living
dying
repeating
i am
overwhelmed
i
am
over
it
